Tesvor S8 Max: Can This Budget Robot Vacuum & Mop Deliver?

I put the Tesvor S8 Max robot vacuum and mop through some serious real-world tests, and I was genuinely surprised by its mapping capabilities and how effectively it handles routine cleaning for its price point.

What I Built

Unboxing the Tesvor S8 Max revealed a sleek, white robot vacuum alongside its self-emptying and charging station. The station itself has charging contacts and a suction port for emptying the vacuum's internal dustbin into a larger, replaceable dust bag. The kit came with extra dust bags, a quick start guide, a remote control, a user guide, an additional air filter, a cleaning brush for hair tangles, and four edge-sweeping brushes.

The robot vacuum features a LiDAR navigation system on top, with an array of cameras and sensors along its front and sides, plus a movable bumper for obstacle detection. The back holds a combined dust box and water reservoir, which slides out easily. On its underside, you’ll find the mop pad, a central brush roll, drive wheels, and a swivel wheel. Installing the side brushes was a simple snap-on process. The mop pad attaches with Velcro and can be removed by squeezing release tabs, as this model doesn't have an automatic lifting mop pad. The vacuum itself has just two buttons: power and home, but the real control comes from the app.

Why It Works

The Tesvor S8 Max leverages advanced LiDAR navigation and a suite of sensors to intelligently map your home. During its initial "Fast Build Map" run, it systematically traversed my tiled floor, creating an accurate layout of the space. This mapping isn't just for show; it allows for highly efficient, systematic cleaning patterns, avoiding repetitive passes and ensuring thorough coverage.

A standout feature is its ability to detect different floor surfaces. When moving from tile to carpet, the vacuum automatically adjusts its suction power, increasing it for deeper cleaning on rugs. This is a huge plus, as it means I don't have to manually change settings or worry about inadequate cleaning on varied flooring. The app also allows for virtual walls and "no-go" zones, which proved invaluable for mopping, letting me designate carpeted areas where the mop should avoid. The fine-tuning controls in the app for these zones are particularly handy, allowing for precise adjustments to keep the mop exactly where it needs to be.

Math & Run-Time Numbers

During its initial mapping run, the Tesvor S8 Max mapped approximately 1.7 kilometers in 23 minutes. For a full sweeping cycle, it covered 23.9 square meters in 23 minutes. When mopping, the robot effectively dampened the floor without leaving it dripping wet. A single mopping cycle for my test area used about one-third of its water tank capacity, suggesting it could handle up to three times that area on one fill.

When To Use This vs. Alternatives

The Tesvor S8 Max is an ideal solution for homeowners and tinkerers looking to automate daily floor maintenance without breaking the bank. If you have a mix of hard floors and low-pile carpets, and you value smart navigation and the convenience of a self-emptying station, this robot is a strong contender. It excels at routine sweeping and mopping, keeping dust and everyday crumbs at bay, significantly reducing the frequency of manual vacuuming.

However, if your home features high-pile carpets, or if you frequently deal with deeply embedded dirt, pet hair, or very fine debris like sand, you might find its suction power on carpet and its side brush action on hard surfaces less than perfect. For those specific challenges, a more powerful, traditional upright vacuum or a higher-end robot with specialized anti-tangle brushes or automatic mop-lifting might be a better (though more expensive) alternative. This unit shines as a daily maintenance companion, not a heavy-duty deep cleaner.

Bottom Line

For its price, the Tesvor S8 Max offers an impressive suite of features, including LiDAR mapping, self-emptying, and dual vacuum/mop capabilities. While it might not replace your heavy-duty upright for tackling deeply embedded messes, it's an incredibly capable and efficient daily cleaner that will significantly reduce your regular chores. Its smart navigation and app controls make it a true set-it-and-forget-it solution for maintaining clean floors, representing excellent value.
