Ground Mount Solar: Easy Setup with Telescoping Stands

Building a ground-mounted solar array usually means digging, concrete, and permanent fixtures. This innovative design enables the incredibly easy deployment of a large solar array directly on the ground, without the need for digging, pouring concrete, or installing complex permanent mounting hardware. Unboxing the stands revealed thoughtful packaging, which is always a good sign. All the main brackets were individually wrapped, and each piece of the telescoping leg assembly was also protected in plastic. The necessary hardware, including various bolts and nuts, came in separate, clearly labeled bags, making it straightforward to identify the correct pieces for each step of the assembly. This attention to detail in packaging made the initial setup much smoother.

When To Use This vs. Alternatives

These telescoping stands excel in specific scenarios. They are perfect for homeowners who want to utilize full-size residential panels for ground mounting but aren't ready for a permanent rooftop installation or extensive civil work. If you anticipate moving your solar setup, or even your home, these stands preserve your investment by making the array easily relocatable.

However, they might not be the best fit for everyone. For frequent, daily setup and takedown (like RVing), the plastic components could experience premature wear. In areas prone to extremely high winds, additional measures like guy lines and ground stakes would be highly recommended to prevent excessive side-to-side movement. If maximum wind resistance and permanent installation are your top priorities, a traditional fixed ground or roof mount might be a better alternative, though with less flexibility.
